Flew into Irvine, CA to buy the car, so I figured a stop by Mazda North America Operations for a photo was necessary.
A couple weeks ago I sold my 1988 Mazda 323 GTX (ownership review coming soon). It was getting a bit long in the tooth and I’ve honestly sunk more money into it than I wanted to. I decided to cut my losses, sell it, and upgrade to a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6. More reliability, comfort, and power. Driving it a thousand miles back home to Denver in a few days.

How delightful! I spent about 15 minutes behind the wheel of one of these on Wednesday and found it, even through very temperate driving, to be quite a car. Made me want one. Lucky you, good sir. I am jealous.

I honestly never realized that these were AWD. I thought they stayed with FWD.

Nice! Where’d you find it?
From one Mazda6 owner to another (about to buy my 2nd keeper 6 this weekend, actually - owned another for a few days when I intentionally flipped it) male sure that if/when you drive on salt/chemical-treated roads, thoroughly clean out the rear wheel wells ASAP.

You and 90% of the car enthusiast community. When I had my MS6, everyone was shocked that it was AWD.
It doesn’t help that Mazda did zero advertising for this car when it was launched, so no one knew it existed and no one knew the capabilities.

It was listed on AutoTrader. It was the best condition MS6 with the fewest miles for the best price I could find.
Thanks for the advice, I’ll be driving this in the winter so I will definitely be doing everything I can do keep it rust-free!
